DIGITHALIA enters its second round: theatre meets digital worlds

From 19-22 March 2025, Schauspielhaus Graz will once again be transformed into a stage for digital and performative art: DIGITHALIA, curated by F. Wiesel, invites you to four days full of theatre, games, films, installations and concerts. International artists and ensembles from Ukraine, Belgium, Germany and the Seychelles as well as national guest performances and Schauspielhaus Graz's own productions explore the interfaces between theatre and technology.
In times of artificial intelligence, virtual realities and digital identities, DIGITHALIA focuses on theatre as a place of shared discourse. What new utopias can be developed? How do we recognise fake truths? And how do we want to live together in the future?

Programme highlights:

MINING STORIES - documentary theatre by Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere
Silke Huysmans returns to her Brazilian hometown, which was hit by one of the biggest environmental disasters in recent history in 2015. The documentary theatre evening brings together different perspectives on the consequences of the devastating dam burst.

Die Tagesshow - It's called Fake News - Performance by Kevin Barz / Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe
An attempt to deceive Germany's most reputable news format - and a humorous plea for lies.

[EOL]. End of Life - A virtual ruinscape - virtual reality performance by DARUM (Victoria Halper & Kai Krösche)
Awarded by FALTER as one of the ten most outstanding productions of 2024 and invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2025.
In this immersive VR performance, the audience decides which virtual memories remain - and which disappear.

Planet Magnon - animated film based on the novel by Leif Randt, adapted by Luis August Krawen / Münchner Kammerspiele
Luis August Krawen and the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele transform Leif Randt's bizarre, utopian science fiction novel into a visually impressive theatre feature film, capturing its atmospheric density in a unique way.

DIFFERENCE:ISM - concert performance
In their scenic concert, four musicians examine the influence of gender and culture on personal decisions and experiences.

Echtzeitalter based on the novel by Tonio Schachinger
Between advertising brochures, computer games and first love, five young people search for who they want to be. A cross-media theatre evening from puppetry to computer games.

Whether digital natives, theatre enthusiasts or technology sceptics - DIGITHALIA offers a programme for everyone who wants to help shape the future of theatre and society.
