Homemade bread, freshly harvested fruit and vegetables and plenty of Styrian delicacies – there’s something for everyone at the farmers’ markets of Graz. Whether it’s on weekdays or on weekends: There’s always a farmers’ market somewhere in Graz, offering fresh treats.

Gourmet tip: In and around Graz, you can find plenty of charming picnic spots, where you can enjoy the delicacies you bought, for instance from Gut Schlossberg. We also recommend the wicker beach chairs at Starcke Haus, where you can lounge and enjoy Styrian specialities in a breathtakingly beautiful ambiance.

Monday - Saturday, 6 am - 1 pm

Sunflowers, pumpkin seeds, freshly baked bread, tasty ham and cheese, juicy apples and brilliant red tomatoes – images from a farmers’ market in Graz. A healthy ruddy tint on the cheerful stall holding ladies’ cheeks too, as they present their fresh, home-grown wares on Kaiser-Josef-Platz square. There is a market every day (Monday - Saturday), but on Saturdays practically all of Graz drops by to fill their baskets, with the option to round off with refreshments with friends at one of the popular snack bars there. (Closed on Sunday and public holidays!)

Monday - Saturday, 6 am - 1 pm

When the farmers come to town, there’s tasty fare to be had. One of the city’s many charming farmers’ markets nestles on the right bank of the Mur at Lendplatz market. With an impressive 300 urban farmers, Graz has the most market days in all of Europe. Instead of traders, farmers themselves proffer their delicious wares. Any shopper will delight in packing their bags full of crusty farmhouse loaves, cured ham or smoked sausage, fish, fruit juice, freshly cut flowers, fruit and vegetables. (Closed on Sunday and public holidays! Sunday: Gastronomy open!)

Even before the sun comes up over the famous tiled roofs of Graz, its farmers’ markets are in full swing. The huge number of farmers in the region (300 in Graz alone) fill their market stalls with wares picked just hours beforehand. It doesn’t get much fresher than that!
